The Count Down To Hollywood Week

I will never, in my life, forget the day I met Steven Tyler. We are both from the same region of the country and I was, hands down, most excited to meet him. It was a very rainy and I had waited all day by the time I got in front of Steven Tyler, J.Lo and the big dawg, Randy Jackson.

When I walked in the room Steven looked at me confused for a minute, probably because I was so nervous and figgity... but then I started to sing and Steven started to smile. When I finished he just kept smiling and then I went so far to rap about... I don't even know what... and Mr. Tyler cracked up laughing and seemed to like my energy.

I remember when I heard "You're going to Hollywood!" I crouched down and curled up in a little ball. I closed my eyes so tight and was scared I would wake up at any second. I remember thinking "Everything is going to be different from now on." and I decided right there, in that moment, that the next day I would quit my job. If you want something in life, you need to go and get it. No one is going to hand it to you on a plate so I decided, no matter what happened on Idol, I was going to move to California and live in Hollywood.

The next day we got back to Massachusetts and I went straight to the mall. I went to my boss and told him that I quit and he was floored. "You're going to just up and go? No job, no where to live, you're just going to go?" he said. I told him how I've always wanted to go on an adventure but I never had the resources or opportunity to go on a really great one, but now this is my chance. Being able to finally say good-bye to a regular job was one of the best moments of my life.

I spent weeks getting outfits ready, packing and re-packing my luggage, making arrangements for my dogs and all the other last minute craziness that I had to deal with before going off to Hollywood Week. David drove me to Logan airport and then he hopped on a flight just a few hours later to follow me to the west coast. I was very fortunate to have some one there for me to give me constant support. David is truly my better half and he is always there for me whenever I need him.
